52 Boat Quay Art Deco building

We retained the facade of this rare 6-storey Art Deco conservation shophouse located along the riverside. Extra care was taken to ensure we  fully conserved the original granolithic textured wall finish , colours & de-bossed business name of the founding company.  We added a lift and other modern elements, using marble titles for the ground floor lift lobby walls, stylish bathrooms on each floor, and created an industrial contemporary space that presents a sense of effortless cool that is is versatile for any F&B/ office. tenant.

The restoration work was more than just preserving the facade, but also to retain the inherent spirit and original ambience of the original building.  Decorative architectural features that are atypical of a shophouse were carefully recreated, such as a small window with floral motifs that we added in the toilet for natural ventilation and also to allow natural lighting.

We wanted to allow the client to have flexible use of space, so each floor was an open space without beams, so it could easily be adapted for the needs of each occupant.

Today, the building stands out from its neighbours along the Singapore River.
